Just listened to it again the past few days for the first time in years. Dare I say the most consistent D-Plan album? Sure the others have a few better songs, but across the board, Change is more consistent in song quality. I don't find myself skipping songs like I do on Emergency & I, which I have also listened the past few days. Playing the discs back to back, its startling how much more I have enjoyed Change.

I've heard how bad the Travis Morrison album is, but now I'm curious to hear for myself.

Change is the best and most consistent D-Plan album. Emergency & I may have some songs that blow away parts of Change, but dreck like "Girl O'Clock" and "I *heart* a Magician" really bring that album down.

Yea, that's exactly what I am saying. I skipped over those tracks and maybe another 1 or 2 when I was listening in my care.

However, "You are Invited," "The City," "Gyroscope" is undeniably the best 3-song stretch in the D-plan catalogue in my opinion. On any album I own, its hard to rival those 3 back to back to back. Could be me, though.

i still think E&I is their best and most consistent. i wouldn't call girl o'clock dreck and i love a magician is one of my favorites on the album.

i think the middle part of change (5 thru 8) is pretty weak.

I like Change a lot. Definitely their most consistent record, and I think the best introduction to the band for casual music fans. E&I is a more powerful artistic statement and a better representation of the band's whole catalogue, since it has about half of their best songs on it (though I'm not a big fan of "The City").

i agree with shiv. the only song on e&i that i don't absolutely love is "the jitters"--the rest is gold in my mind.

I like Change better too, and would like to slip in a mention for "The Other Side," which got shuffled in on my iPod the other day and surprised me with its goodness.

This is the only Dismemberment Plan album I own.
This is the only Dismemberment Plan album I will ever own because of that.

I think it's sub-Weird Al garbage.

The only song of those 4 that I would think about skipping over is "Automatic." I probably feel the same about the other songs as you do "I Heart a Magician" and "Girl O'Clock."

the reason i ask is that i associate "!" with those two songs. it would surprise me if you liked on and not the other. just curious.
