This thread is doomed to sink quickly, and I'm fine with that. I just wanted to selfishly point out that you too can follow my rookie season in the Captain's Softball League as starting shortstop for the *cough* Ninja Tunas, as yet undefeated. This is totally fun. Click "Ninja Tunas" to see individual stats. My name's Jonathan. How do? There are detailed box scores and everything.

the coach on my softball teams keeps the boxscore on the nearest piece of paper he finds near the field.....

*sigh*

Better than .500 - color me impressed. I'm confused about your last name now though.

You thought it was Ellesse, or what? Is it just confusing?

Yeah what the hell's Ellesse? I feel like I don't even know you anymore. I've been wrong about both your first and last names.

Silly. "Jay Ellesse (the Ninjew)" is my hip hop name. It sounds exactly like my initials, "jls". See? Fascinating.

Your lack of power is disappointing, to say the least.

Whoa. I put one off the top of the wall in game 2. I've 6 RBIs in 3 games. I'm batting .538. I'm shortstop, batting second in the order, I'm not supposed to have power. Or numbers even.

Why can't you be more like Mr. Lebron? He has power...and I don't hear him makeing any excuses about his position.

Good point. He has a good swing and is Dominican. Our team, in a predominantly Jewish league, is 1/3 Jewish, 1/3 Dominican, 1/3 mixed.

Good christ, pitching stats for softball? That can't be good for the old ego.

Depends. It's not slow pitch really, so there is the potential for low scoring games. Unless you're pitching to the Ninja Tunas, course.

Not slow pitch? Why not just play baseball?

Baseball is a sport. Softball is not a sport, but rather it is an excuse to drink beer.

I would tend to agree with you. I'd rather play baseball, but this is the next best thing, because it's not that much of a beer league (read: I've been high for 2 out of 3 games). But, yes, softball is for pussies, even if the level of play can be good.

Hit-and-run, yo.
