I don't listen to the radio much, and I'm probably not alone.

But sometimes I'll scan through the stations just hoping to hit something listenable, usually Motown, some cheesy 70s AM hit or Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock.

But the other day I got a treat in the form of Marc Cohn's "Walking In Memphis". I really like this song, especially the line: 'Tell me are you a Christian child?' / And I said 'Ma'am I am tonight'.

Some might call these guilty pleasures or whatever, but you get the idea. Throw 'em out so we can ridicule your affinity for Matthew Wilder.

i sing along to that song every time - agreed.

i will go with Bob Seger - maybe Night Moves - I will keep the radio on if I hear some of that.

If I hear Bob Seger I'll search desperately for a commercial.

A lot of stuff that was on alternative radio when I was in high school will still get me, like "Interstate Love Song" and such.

Are you looking for radio songs we like that might get ridiculed or for songs that sound great on the radio? Or both?

and bands that sell much less. but all in all 94.7 is like 10x worse than when they first made the switch over to being "indie" or whatever.

but yeah. idk what this thread is about, really. i love pop songs. especially from other decades/generations or my childhood (which wasn't that long ago)

Lots of 80's bottom-of-the-Top-40 tunes make me happy:

Jo-Boxers "Just Got Lucky"
Haircut 100 "Love Plus One"
Bourgeois Tagg - "I Don't Mind At All"
Kane Gang - "Motortown"
China Crisis - ""King In A Catholic Style"
Danny Wilson - "Mary's Prayer"

that kinda thing

Plus 70's classic rock things like "Back In The Saddle" and old schoolish rap like "The Humpty Dance"

And there's hardly an ELO or Tom Petty song that will make me change the station.

Yeah that's pretty much me. When I can't be arsed putting in a tape (no Cds in my car) I just listen to the radio. Im not embarrassed to like any song though.
