I watched Standing in the Shadows of Motown last night and loved the fuck out of it. So today, I'm listening to the Classic Soul station on Rhapsody while I clean and/or paint.

Then I started pining for KGRM, Grambling State University radio. I would listened to them on many a Sunday afternoon from 1996-1999. The would break out all kinds of badass Soul and R&B songs from around 1967-1982 non-stop. All afternoon. Not just tried and true hits either, but more obscure artists, deep cuts from big names, or just funny R&B hits (Joe Tex, "Ain't Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman)" which is what really made it a great listen.

But there was this one song, and of course I never found out who performed it. It starts out with two women talking over low music, about the shortcomings of their spouses. I think the banter was pretty amusing, but I haven't heard it in years. Then the duet starts off, and leads to the kicker.

The chorus is one woman singing "Don't go looking for my man / Cause you just might find your husband."

I'm guessing seventies on this one, but I could be wrong. Anyone have a clue?

Can't really help you, but with a chorus like that I'd put money on it being Millie Jackson.

I went on a Millie Jackson hunt, and I think I found my answer.

I haven't found a full track, only a piece, but it seems like it's Shirley Brown, "Don't Go Looking For My Man" which actually came out in 1997.

Thanks for the help, Obner-Wan Kenobi.

EDIT: Just found a clip with chorus on Barnes and Noble. That's it.
