Jim Ross, especially in his MidSouth/UWF days was the king:

"IT'S BREAKIN DOWN"

"IT'S PANDEMONIUM IN TULSA"

"KATIE BAR THE DOOR"

"iTS A PIER 6 BRAWL"

Also Gordon Solie referring to a clothesline as a "Lariat"

and whoever said, "Irish wip in. Look out"

Discuss.

Amateur Background.

I think we could expand this thread and go with "cliche moves" like Hogan's "Big Leg" or Ric Flair's "Whip-into-the-rope-turn-upside-down-run-down-the-outside-of-the-ropes-jump=onto-the-top-turnbuckle-get-slammed-off-it" -- most underrated move in wrestling.

Solie was/is the Gold Standard..what's that chesnut that Little Richard (?) used? "Before me, there were none. After me, there is only one." Or something like that. Applies to Solie, as far as I'm concerned. I went to school with his stepson who was not a fan of Gordo for any reason..........

You mean "The Walter Cronkite of Wrestling" I believe.

Corey, line of the day, man. Lord Alfred Hayes -- if a bigger child molester ever existed I am not sure.

Dude that Al Hayes shit is too much

I mean, you should speak more highly of a "Lord"

wow, the three-way monger team of Hayes, Superstar Billy Graham, and Bruno Sammartino devestated the lives of many children back in the day....

I actually thought Jim Ross was a really good and original voice in the UWF days.

He is the "voice" f the WWE but I think he's over the top now. Maybe its because he had the subpar sidekick (Cowboy Jim Walsh, I believe) in those days. Kinda like how Tony Schiavone always sounded great because he had Captain Intacular David Crockett as his color man.....

and I always though Gene Okerlund sucked cock. Literally and figuatively.

I love Ross from UWF to WCW to WWF/E. He's great because even though he has seen the same angles for years, he acts as if he's being horrified for the first time when one of the heels does something dastardly.

I also love it that he has actually found ways to get guys over as monster heels (Mankind, Kane, Austin, HHH) by letting himself get busted open, set on fire and the like.

He and Lawler are great together, evne though most of Lawler's lines are fed to him thorough an earpiece, but I wish we had a chance to hear Ross and Heenan together.

Lawler is a good, very underrated color guy.

Heenan was always great.

Rob from Imus In The Morning did a short-lived announcing gig with the WWF in the mid-90's. The line I heard, which may be the one that got him fired, was, "Whoaaa, that'll knock your gerbil loose."
