Balls Opinion- Underrated, but watered down their catalogue with nonsense so it may be their own fault.

Machine Gun Etiquette = Classic

Wait for the Blackout= Great f'n song

Everything through "Damned But Not Forgotten" is solid gold.

"Phantasmagoria" has a great cover, some decent songs, but the band is a scant shadow of what they were before the Captain left. I've a bootleg from this era, though, with an astoundingly good cover of "LA Woman" on it.

"Anything" was utter crap, so bad that it made a rather weak tune ("Psychomania") seem good when compared to the songs around it.

They were pretty neat, neat, neat.
Captian Sensible is an amazingly underrated musician.

Machine Gun Ettiquette is one of my all-time favorites. I've played it hundreds of times and still pull it out from time to time.

I've been remiss about most of the rest of their catalog, but they do have some clunkers in there I've happened upon, so I just stick with the one I know like.

Anyone just starting getting into The Damned can usually pick up a used copy of the Light At The End Of The Tunnel comp, which overviews views the punk-to-postpunk-to-gothsynthpop track of their career rather well, while not adding too much crud.

Great band through Phantasmagoria. Even that has some really fun songs, though nowhere near as aggressive as earlier stiff.
