I know I'm like, 16 years behind on this...but I just wanted to brag that I went to the Johnson Country Library Dollar Booksale today & picked up a copy of "The Meadowlands" for $1.

I also got a Be-Bop Deluxe CD & a couple of books for a buck each.

So, yeah.

Except me.
I'll have my own Shrimp Boat Thread.
Oh wait, I already have several.

Back to Meadowlands:
Great album.
The more I listen, the more I love it.
Maybe not the end-all-be-all some here were touting it as, but to say that it's not an excellent album, is (mostly, probably) just a bunch a knee-jerk backlash.

Good stuff.

This response came even quicker than I could've anticipated. :P

I figured if I didn't like it I could still at least quadruple my $$$ by trading it in.

Good, but nothing great. I'd pick it up for a buck, sure, or used if cheap, but I wouldn't pay retail for it.

Yes yes, of course, whenever someone doesn't agree with someone else's taste it's a case of backlash. Thanks for the lesson, Todd.

It's a "best of" - the title's Raiding The Divine Archive. I've heard a couple of the songs on Jonesey's Jukebox that I really liked, & you can't go wrong for a buck.

That phrase, there, acknowledges that there are people who do genuinely dislike the album. You were taken into consideration. Easy to miss, I see. But that was the intention of the word "MOSTLY".

mostly = most people here
most = not all

i'll say that it's not "excellent", although it is certainly listenable, and definitely on the side of good. i might agree with you on this album though, just b/c of the fact that there had to be backlash because of how absolutely ridiculous about this everyone was. i ordered the pre-release from abkosh after the initial round of everybody sig heiling this thing and while still enjoying it, was sadly let down.

Yeah...I got around to listening to it yesterday, & I liked it OK. There seemed to be about 3-4 songs on there that were much better than the rest of the album. Overall it's a little "wimpy" for my liking, but that's "indie rock" for ya.

I'll certainly listen to it a few more times to see if it sneaks up on me.
