What is it about message boards that brings out the most infantile behaviour in people. As you have probably all experienced, this is a web pandemic. I'm certain if the bickering parties met at a party they would engage in lively and spirited dicsourse shake hands and say goodnight.
Anonymity brings out the worst in (some) people!
That's sorta what makes it fun. A post is a disembodied transmission for which the reader is free to imagine an intent, a personality and, implausibly enough, a physical appearance. The reader is then free to respond to that imaginary foe with impunity.
Of course, it's not the same face to face. I even think Tommy's Obnish-Revealed site went a long way towards calling an unspoken truce among most boarders - but still every now and then it gets good 'n' nasty, mainly because we're dealing with internet personas rather than actual human beings.
