"Love means never having to say you're sorry."

I never understood that line.

I think you are forgetting that this isn't going to be populated with stuff from Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Old School.

Yeah, some of them are rote, but isn't the whole AFI list a bit rote? It is a list of canonized quotes from canonized movies. By the time yahoos like us run things like this, the world will be worse for it.

<-----Thinks the list is pretty good for what it is.

The latest films on there are from 1987. They could stand to spice it up a bit with some more recent films.

They did - LOTR, Jerry Mcguire, T2, Silence of the Lambs, A League of their Own, Apollo 13 are all on the list and are post-1987.

And, correct me if I'm wrong, that line in The Owl And The Pussycat was delivered by Ryan O'Neal (who was also the lead in Love Story).

Edit: naw, let me correct myself. That line was uttered by George Segal, methinks.

Between Buck Henry and Billy Wilder, I could come up with 100 greater lines than that AFI list.

So, sorry, but you're both wrong.

The goof on the "Love means never having to say your sorry" line was uttered by Barbara Streisand to Ryan O' Neal in the movie What's Up, Doc?

She says the line and then he tells her "that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

Thanks for clearing that up. In my memory cells Barbra Streisand flicks have sorta congealed into one long, indiscernible mass of kitsch.

Obivisouly, these people at AFI never saw Monty Python's Holy Grail. You could do a top 100 quote's from that movie alone.

American Film Institute. While it is hard to classify what constitutes a British film, they probably figure this does.

Too many Casablanca quotes on that list.

That list sucks. They could've at least included this...

Blake: I've been in this business fifteen years...
Dave Moss: What's your name?
Blake: Fuck you. That's my name. You know why, mister? 'Cause you drove a Hyundai to get here tonight, I drove an eighty thousand dollar BMW. THAT'S my name.

What are you going to do about it, asshole? You're fucking shit. Where did you learn your trade, you stupid fucking cunt, you idiot? Who ever told you that you could work with men?

best cutdown in a movie ever.
