it's not very often that i do one of these music-link / hey check out this mp3 posts, but i'm going to try it on for size right now. This band Canasta had an EP but it sold out so now it's downloadable at their website.

people who live in Chicago should check out the lead track, and everyone else should too, because it's cool.

Bort, you stole my post.

I went on my honeymoon a bit back. Here's where we went:

http://www.mexicoholiday.com/destinations/kailuum-facts.html

When I was there I met another couple from Chicago. The woman, El, was in this band Canasta. Talked a bit about it. She was very cool and said that they were working hard on their new album. Here's their website:

Bort's right. Their EP is free for download and very much worth checking out. I think this album could be very good if they get a good producer.

They do remind me a bit of Belle and Sebastion. The lead singer doesn't have fey vocals though. Seem to have a bit of Arcade Fire influence, but that could just be the violins.

I downloaded and am listening now. Only on the first song, but I like what I hear so far. It actually reminds me of the band Radcliffe and I have talked about some, p:ano. Either of you heard them (or are interesting in doing so)?

As far as Canasta, I 'm gonna listen to the rest of the EP from their site, but I am digging "Slow Down Chicago."

Also, I do realize I sound a bit like a street teamer in the above post.
