Is this album as flawless and classic as I think it is? Something about the guitars, Ken's vocals and the time it came out make this maybe one of my top 20 records. Am I off on this? All the tracks hit me every time I spin this.

ON I think is an amazing project and we all know how much I like Autolux, but I think Failure would have to be my fav if I had to pick. Thoughts? Also, does anyone have Autolux demos from years ago? I haven't heard them!!!

Yeah I think it's widely considered the best Failure album. I really didn't care much for On besides the first single they put out and I don't think I even bothered to listen to Year Of The Rabbit. You should check out the Replicants album if you can find it. There's some pretty cool cover versions on it.

What does Autolux have to do with Failure/Ken Andrews?

I went to see Year of the Rabbit with no expectations...I was kind of 'blah' on the record at the time...

but they opened up with 'Plainsong' by the Cure... I left that night with a shirt, and a new found love for that record....

Greg Andrews of Failure is now in Autolux.

I gotta borrow my bro's Replicant's disc.

I think the fact Mahaffey contributed to ON made it sound better to me. It came out around the time I was getting into more electronic sounding acts, so just like Fantastic, it came out at the right time.

Ah cool, I didn't know Ken was in Autolux.

I should download On + YOTR again and check them out.

Actually, it's Greg Edwards the other half of Failure who's in Autolux.

"Fantastic Planet" is deff in my top 10 album list. Just the guitar tones alone on this thing aremind blowing. I love all of Ken Andrew's side projects, YotR being my favorite. He's got a new project he's working on right now called LADNA (Los Angeles Digital Noise Academy) featuring:

Jordon Zadorozny (Blinker The Star)
Brad Laner (Medicine)
Justin Meldal-Johnsen
Tommy Walter (Abandoned Pools)
Sharky Laguana (Creeper Lagoon)
Charlotte Martin

I got the Autolux demos. I'll hook you up. "Underorbit" and "Future Perfect" are two songs that did not end up on the album.

I really like FP, but Magnified is just one of those albums that is the soundrack to my college years. Great album to wake up to.
ON is OK
YOTR was pretty bad compared with what I was expecting
I dig Autolux
That Replicants album is freakin' great, I love the song with Maynard from Tool (silly love songs?)

The new CD/DVD combo is pretty boring...the documentary is more of a cheap scrapbook for the band members and their crew. There is some cool footage of Steve Albini recording a guitar by swinging around a microphone.

For some reason I wasn't really excited about the DVD. You just made me not want to get it even more. Your advice is appreciated.
