Don't know any details but saw it in a CNN update. Not a big fan, but the guy's been battling heart problems for a while now. I think he was fairly young (40ish).

I remember seeing him on Later with Jools Holland and he was interviewed and he was more or less saying "hey, i'm the best singer of all time and nobody can touch me". Came across as a bit of an asshole if you ask me.

He was 54.

Interesting, I was reading about him and apparently he got his big break as a backing singer for David Bowie in the 70's. Did not know that.
