As much as I like Johnny Damon (third in AL batting, one of the fastest big guys in baseball, outsized personality, etc) , Suzuki deserves to be on the All-Star team.

Batting 300 with 6 hrs and 18 sb's doesn't cut it for me. Damon deserves it my opinion.

I saw Ichiro play when the M's came to play the Nationals, and was thoroughly unimpressed.

Podsednik was the biggest ommission. Not to mention the selection of Nathan over Hermanson? Gimme a break. Do the Sox need to get to 40 over before ganing ANY respect?

Maybe the fast-pitch softball All-Star game. I mean, look at the slash and burn hack the guy's got. He should be hitting over .300 with that. Johnny Damon is more deserving this year.

Wanna see snubs? Check out Morgan Ensberg's numbers compared to other NL third basemen. Scott Rolen as the starter? Gimme a break. That's the system we live with though, and as long as some fresh faced kids are shoving All-Star ballots in the hands of every attendee at the large market ballparks, we'll continue to get results like this. When you're criteria for voting is "oh, yeah, I've heard of that guy", it stinks.

The day of the fan vote has to go. Or, players like Rolen should swallow their ego and step aside. Does that $15,000 bonus mean that much?

I still think it's a travesty that Calvin Pickering's name even appeared on the ballot.

It does to Kenny Rogers, his All-Star bonus is the same as his fine. ;)

agreed. A case could be made for Aramis, but Ensberg deserves it. Rolen shouldn't be in the picture at all.

I agree that Suzuki isn't having his best year, but he's a much better fielder than Damon. Damon's arm isn't strong.

Damon can produce more dramatic hits, though. And both can get around the bases in a heartbeat.

If we were picking players to build a team around, I'd pick Ichiro over Damon. But this year Damon is having the better year. All-star in the outfield is all about the offense anyway.

And how does he even get selected? Baseball... damn fools.

Watching this Nationals-Mets game reminds me that Ichii looks like a Japanese Springsteen.

That was an administrative error...his name shoulda been on the Competitive Eating All Star ballot.

While we're on Japanese players, did anyone catch the SportsCenter the other day when the anchor gave a Beastie's style "lookin' at Taguchi it's about that time" when he robbed the home run. I lost it.

Ichiro's out-homered Damon? Damn.

As it is -- I want to see Ichiro in the home-run hitting contest on Monday, 11 July. They say brotha can bomb in practice, a la Boggs.

I've always been partial to "sped"
