hey everyone, Karl Roves gonna get away with treason!

i seriously held off on posting about this because i post some political outrage or another every other day (and sadly, few of them are music related), but this is just gotten totally fucking absurd. Rove's defense is gonna be that he didn't know that Valerie Plame's status with the CIA was covert when he called Cooper? yikes.

is that considered light treason or heavy?

I keep my daily outrages to myself now. It doesn't do any good to express them.

I've been following this story for a few days...it has the potential to blow up & become really interesting - it all depends on whether the "liberal" news media can hold off on their Missing Child Of The Day marathons to do something with it or not.

I've heard that he swore under oath at one point that he didn't do the leaking. Now, if the accusations are true that's perjury right there.

you're totally right about the missing child-a-thon. But we've got a war to ignore and we all know the missing drunk girl from Aruba needs to be avenged.

One of the prevailing theories is that Fitzgerald has held Cooper and Miller to build a perjury case against Rove, since perjury needs two witnesses.

From my inner monologue this morning, during news coverage of this...

"How do you tell the parents that their little angel probably got loaded and then threw a leg for some gold chain-sportin' wigger guy in Aruba?!? E gads."

mine was "she probably fell off a party boat after too many margaritas" but yeah we're on the same page.

They've got statements from wigger and 2 buddies saying (now... it changed) that the buddies dropped wigger and alabama off at the beach late-as-hell.

as for plame-mania, i hope they ultimately do prosecute, though that's what angers me most about the whole special prosecution -- there may be no crime actually committed. meanwhile, if they do find rove (or whomever) guilty of leaking that information, novak's going down with. rove's not the only one who'll be caught twice for doing the same deed. i hope there's some justice at the end of this -- that the release of cooper's notes and the drama for all reporters involved leads to some serious criminal procedings toward the offenders. while i hate the threat this causes to all journalists, i hope that this leads to getting a rotten politician out of his seat -- as a lesson to all.

But do you really think it's Rove? Any fantasy-come-true hopes aside, why would you think so. As far as I know, Rove signed a blanket waiver/endorsement allowing any reporter with whom he spoke/corresponded to testify about said correspondence.

These two are buttoned up over sources who have not agreed to allow Miller/Cooper to disclose what they discussed. Doesn't this rule Rove out?

I agree wholeheartedly that Bush should investigate this and public identify and excoriate the offenders.

I also think Durbin should shut his yap, he's only looking to deflect attention away from his own stupidity.

If you had asked me that 5 days ago, I would not have thought even Rove to be so petty and vindictive as this, but lately i'm not as sure. The shit that has just fallen out of his mouth in the last 2 weeks alone has given me enough reason to totally think this man is capable of that.

The guy is te domestic leader of this country. there's no fucking way he's gonna do day one even if he did it and admits it. I don't think Bush would ever put him away, either.

i wonder if she and matt cooper will write letters. she'll be like, "i had slop again for lunch today," and he'll be like, "60 minutes just paid me a cool 100k for an interview!"

an interesting spin that i've been reading about is that miller is refusing to talk because she herself is also responsible for spreading the word on plame's secret identity, although i don't think i believe it. i'd be pleased as punch to see rove go to prison for this, on the other hand... the man was around to see nixon go down, so i'm sure he's got his ass covered some how.

Actually, I thought Rove was dismissed from the staff of CReeP. Will have to check on that.
