I wasn't gonna buy this, even given its high place on the indie charts... and hoping my mature years had finally gotten me beyond the need for flannel and dykes (it's a long story), but per the postings on this thread I'll get it... but you better be right. I am a refugee from CMJ and I have been less than happy about the CD's this board has made me buy. Grumble. Or perhaps grrr.
chill son...nobody tells anybody to buy records around here, some people just suggest some things more emphatically than others.
I wouldnt call my man Harry "son" Chase; that dudes got suits older than you.
thanks for the tips...
but i really think you're off base here. and yes, i may be 19 years old and in some minds that may invalidate my opinion, but i'm going to go ahead and voice it anyway.
his post was basically a talk-down to the entire community and had a hint of pretensiousness (sp) to it. for example:

The CDs this board has "made [him] buy"? I don't think it gets any more ridiculous than that on this message board...trying to blame the over-enthusiasm of others for bad purchases? i mean, we've all made a wrens-esque mistake over the years, but i don't take that out on all the people who love that album, i take it out on myself for trusting them.
and furthermore, i really take offense to this:

And because he is a little older and not wiling away his days playing video games and wasting his parents money, he might actually enjoy some of the free advice thrown out by a like minded group of people.
because you have no idea what you're talking about. i work (at least) 40 hour weeks every week. the only thing my parents help me out on is my tuition and that's not even a large amount. during school i take (at least) 17 hours of classes and work (at least) thirty hours a week.
it happens to be summer vacation, so i splurged twenty dollars of my own money on fifa 2005 and played it a lot on an off day. i haven't touched the thing in three days, mainly because i've been working 10 hours a day and on holidays.
maybe you think i shouldn't tell harry not to blame other people for his bad music purchases...that's okay i guess.
but don't accuse me of "wasting my parents [sic] money," because just about the only thing they provide me is a roof over my head. but i bet you were living in a cardboard box on the streets of hotlanta supporting yourself when you were twelve.
as if i have even have to justify any of that to you.
in summation....
chill son. you don't have to get your cousin's back every time somebody says anything to him. if he's got suits older than me, i'm sure he can handle himself.
