after a tumultuous two weeks of various ailments, i find myself at home in new jersey waiting for blood test results. it's a very exciting time, as i've never had mono before and i'm very much looking forward to weeks of bedrest.

or it could just be a virus that likes to play games with my tonsils and glands. either way, excitement abounds.

however, i did go to see stephen malkmus in battery park, nyc yesterday (along with the incredible fireworks) which was an awesome experience, despite my inability to swallow properly. i would have stayed for yo la tengo but my dad and i were hungry and neither of us were really inclined to wait around for a band we didn't know.

I've never had it, but I did use it as an excuse to miss a month of classes at LSU.

I think I detect sarcasm in your post. For if you had the mono like I did this winter, you would not be looking forward to any part of it. I was only out of commission for 3 days - though I was sick for 3 weeks - and it was hhhhhhorrid. Definitely not worth a description, but in some ways I do recount it with some wistfulness - those bygone days of spit mugs and sleepless nights. It's good that you were still able to get out and enjoy some music. I managed to ski twice during my ailment, which in retrospect was the stupidest fucking thing I could've done.

Anyway, enjoy.

In honor of this title.

Woke up this morning
Couldn't move a thing
My arm wouldn't even budge
when I tried to stroke my ding-a-ling...

I'd love to get some combo of mono/epstein bar & lyme disease; a couple, three weeks in bed would do me right.....

Some kind of malady that would cause a fine coma, but have no adverse effect afterwards....Ahhhhhh....DAT COMA!

I have allergies/or a cold or some crap coming on as of last night. This bites.

I'm really tired from not sleeping super good last night. I kept dreaming of a hot stone massage(had one last week ) and the fact that it kept getting interrupted so we'd have to start over. How friggin annoying.

My son feels a little crappy too. So I kept him home from summer program and me home from work. This way I can nap and read. yay

i've had enough lyme for a coupla lifetimes.

when i had mono might've been the best time of my life. It was the summer after 10th grade and my girlfriend at the time also had it, so we just fucked around in bed for 2 weeks and smoked a lot of pot. I went to a huge party one night and drank tequila, convinced i'd wake up all yellow and jaundicy.

the verdict is in.

it's mono.

i don't feel all that bad, just kind of wobbly today. although my right tonsil is still absolutely disgusting looking.

right now i'm deeply immersed in a "grim adventures of billy and mandy" mini marathon on cartoon network. i can tell how the next two weeks are going to be already.

i had mono in 6th grade, missed about a month of school, learned a lot about my body, it was pretty cool.

my teacher didn't even make me make up the work as I had transferred from a much better school and was about a year ahead of everyone else.

You should get yourself some sleeping pills and anti-inflammatories. I might've died without them.

Have you ever thought "I wish I was handicapped or diseased or something so at least I could have an excuse for being such a useless bag of meat"?
