Because I don't. But I'd like to. I'm poor.

I'm interested in checking out episodes from shows like Sealab 2021 and the Brak Show. Seeing as they don't air here.

But I'm also curious about the ability to watch certain shows chronologicalyl from the beginning. Like the Sopranos or Dead Like Me.

I don't have the kind of money to spend on buying season sets and they charge you full price to rent a single disc of a season set. Ridiculous.

Someone on another board mentioned netflix to me yesterday. I was all set to sign up and start ordering when I discovered it's only available in the States.

I don't really even want to burn them. I just want to be able to download some episodes to watch on the computer.

Use a bittorrent program (like BitComet or something) + a torrent site (piratebay has some tv shows)

You can download Sealab 2021 here using bittorrent. That site has some other Adult Swim shows as well.

I'm using BitLord now? And some generic search site that came with it.

How long does it generally take? I'm only trying to get about 3 episodes of each show and it's listed at seven hours for the fastest.

Most say 23 or 87 hours left.

it varies WILDLY. it's all based upon how many users are sharing the file that you need.

So I successfully(?) downloaded a couple episodes of three different shows. When I try to play them in Windows Media Player, the first show says I don't have enough codecs involved to play it.

The second and third play audio but no video. Are these just bad files I downloaded? Is there something wrong in my options? Am I missing a step? I figure I should just open them and they should play but it's apparently never that easy.

Do you have DivX installed? Most video files you download need it.

Download that media player. It can play almost every format available without downloading codecs.

Or download ffdshow. Which supports most of the popular codec so you can play them in windows media player.

I must say we are generally a pretty damn helpful board.

I use bittorrent to get tv shows too.
Unless it's one that I love and want on DVD.

So far I have Arrested Development, and The Tick on DVD and want to get Scrubs. I've rented 24 the first 2 seasons.

Okay, I installed divx. It gives me an error message but it will play the 2nd and 3rd shows. The first one plays but with no audio. Maybe I'll just get that other media player and see if there's any difference.

Get VLC, which someone linked to a few posts above.

Yeah, I did. The results were better with Windows Media Player. VLC distorted my picture more and all the other results were the same.
