someone please tell me more.

i've been quite obsessed with "a song from under the floorboards" after hearing it on the left of the dial comp. is the album "the correct use of soap" worth checking out? or any others?

Oh shit. I just got Real Life (their first album) in the mail today, and it's the first thing by Magazine I've ever heard. I'm only 2 tracks into my first listen, but so far it's awesome

"Second Hand Daylight" made my Listmania.

Magazine blew the Buzzcocks away. They could nail the two-minute post-punk single, or the six minute epic.

I believe their original albums are available as Virgin mid-price disks. There are also three excellent comps:

After The Fact (singles comp)
Rays And Hail (Virgin comp circa 1986 when CD's were new)
Scree (Virgin comp circa 1991)

If you're familiar with Peter Murphy's solo stuff, "The Light Pours Out Of Me" from his debut is a Magazine cover.

You should also check out the first Luxuria record "Unanswerable Lust".

Aside from Howard Devoto, Magazine also featured Barry Adamson and John McGeogh.

I always felt John McGeogh was one of the best guitarist of the era.

It was no coincidence that Souixsie and the Banshees best material was when he was in the band.

I would also add an edgier, more threatening Simple Minds, as well as Gary Numan's Tubeway Army--don't forget that one of the elements that really sets Magazine on their own plateau is the keyboards.

Replicas was also on my Listmania. I also recommend their first if you haven't heard it, it's much more guitar driven.

Yes, the s/t one, with "My Shadow In Vain", "Jo The Waiter", "Listen To The Sirens". Great record.
