It was a much better day then yesterday and that's said even though I'd only seen four acts in the day and all of them were the last half of the day.

But I'm assuming the crowds would agree with me since they were the acts that seemed to get the biggest crowds.

I'm tired as fucking hell after standing out in 102 degree weather this afternoon so I'll give full report tommorrow. But, I shall leave you with this, and it'll be something I know the southern boys will appreciate:

LET THERE BE ROCK!!

Fucking hell, DBT's were it. They are tight as hell, they sounded unbelievable and they made the temperature outside rise at least ten degrees. I nearly peed my pants in joy from watching them. And judging by the crowd's participation, I wasn't the only one.

I'm showered and watching Into The West so I'll give the rest tomorrow...

Goodnight

Awesome day and I can barely stand any weather over 80 degrees. Who the hell knew Los Amigos Invisibles were that tight live?? Awesome set!

OK GO was a hell lot of fun. The frontman sprinting thru the crowd and climbing the soundboard was good fun, especially that being the first act of the day. Their dance routine is fun and that is why I dig them.

Kasabian sounded pretty tight live.

Arcade Fire was again pretty damn impressive. We were really impressed at what an audience they drew, but I guess when the other band that is playing that time slot is G Love....

I love Spoon, but I'm honestly bored with their live show. I just sat back in the grass and chilled while they played.

That heat takes so much out of you and I'm exhausted, again. In my opinion, this festival was a real good time. You think this will come back to Chicago??

Great time but the weather was just a bitch. Saul Williams ripped it early, then Kasabian and Dinosaur Jr. provided the days best 1-2 punch. Arcade Fire were great but I was underwhelmed with Spoon and the Dandys. But having BJM take the stage with them was pretty cool. Death Cab sounded better than expected.

Day 1 paled in comparision... Z-Trip was nice, the Pixies slayed as did Digable Planets. The rest was kind of meh. I did enjoy the Kaiser Chiefs quite a bit though.

I really enjoyed when Butterfly from Digable came on stage during Saul's set. I'm pissed I saw Weezer over Digable Planets.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BJM took the stage with the Dandys??? SHIT. We were watching The Killers, who really underwhelmed me. Josh liked em but we did both agree that they belonged in a club and not this outdoor stuff. Oh man now I'm kicking myself for not seeing The Dandy Warhols.

Arcade Fire was a sheer highlight for me yesterday. Them and the DBT's. My two favorites of the whole weekend. They both made up for everything else(well The Pixies and Weezer both rocked, so really they made up for the train wrecks known as BJM and Liz Phair that I saw). Arcade Fire on stage are just absolutely amazing, I had so much fun watching them. Next time they play here and in a club I'm so there. They sounded amazing, the energy they had was great, and they're entertaining. They don't just play they really entertain. The two guys that kept banging on each other on stage with drumsticks or whatever and then kept proceeding to have mock fights were a hoot.

Spoon bored me too. But by then I was seeking food and shade and sat by a tree on a hill to the right of the stage. I heard em, they sounded ok.

The Killers like I said, they were decent but underwhelming. Brandon FLowers admitted he hates talking in between songs. So there were these LONNNG pauses between songs that were just deadening. They just played straight off the album and mixed up a couple older songs including that "indie rock n roll " song which was just hideous.

I enjoyed their last two songs more then I did the rest of their set. Then again I finally found a place to sit and rest my weary legs by then.

Then we left. Too long of a hot as hades day to stick around. It WAS funny to watch the MASS exodus of people after the Killers and The Dandy's played. Apparently Widespread's second set wasn't going to have a huge audience.

Charli, I am glad to hear you saw, and loved The Truckers show, girl.

I saw them 4 times last year, and they never dissapoint. They seem to keep getting better if that's possible., Good to know some whiskey swilling bad asses can get props in Chi-town.

I turned to Josh last night while we were relaxing and said" I've NEVER wanted so badly to see a band again right after seeing them live". He smiled knowing who I meant.

God they were unbelievable, I wish they'd come back quickly so we can go see them.

Heard there were 3 deaths yesterday... not good.

Anton and Hollywood played for about 15 minutes... Newcombe, completely out of his gourd. "I'm a 14th Gemeration Roman!" Some chick put a Caesar head band on him. Bat shit crazy. They didn't do "Heroin" which was a bummer, but "Bohemian" killed.

Charli - Your spoon moment was like my arcade fire one... I was on the verge of packing it in... so, so hot and uncomfortable. But the sun going down ever so slightly gave me hope. Then I got up and felt better... unfortunately I had to see Fire way back by the second softball field. Still awesome though.

I overheard Perry introing Widespread at 8:30... so, there was no big surprise. Who did you hear, Z?

apparently, someone heard perry say something about a reunion on sunday. and then the rumor mill was abuzz. i heard smashing pumpkins (quelled by billy corgan touring new zealand), jane's addiction (seemed obvious?), and someone else i can't remember. i guess the idea of widespread panic having two sets was too much for some people.

You weren't alone... there was nary a soul present for Planets. Made me a little sad as they didn't lose a tick after 10 years. Their backing band was funkified!

Butterfly and Saul... that was 5 minutes of bliss right there!

God damn... that would have almost made up for the 231 degree day! Still reeling today. Anyone else get those Thai smoothies? About the only good food item there.

I actually only have misc. Los Amigo tracks, so if you could, I'd be forever in your debt. I messaged Tania a few times, but we never found one another. Sucks. I hope she enjoyed her time in Chicago.

So now I'm even more pissed I missed them. Is there any talk of a tour? What size venues you think they'd hit if they were to tour? I'd be hoping for smaller ones because most people wrote them off as a one hit wonder.

It was as hot as I ever remember it. I was at Ikea and came outside, and almost died loading the car up.

I've been to a ton of Coachella Music Festivals, but NOTHING prepared me for the heat that I'd experience on Sunday. The temperature may have said 102 but the heat index was up around 110. I thought I was melting.

My day two synopsis:

Cathedrals -- New and upcoming band who won Battle of the Bands. I happened to walk over to their stage thinking I was at The Changes' stage. Ended up meeting the parents to the band who had travelled from Ohio and thought I'd stick around to check 'em out. They were actually pretty good. A combo of power pop and power punk - what the hell do you call that?

The Changes -- Mid-set through Cathedrals, I walked over to check out The Changes. Sorry to say, they did nothing for me. Walked over to check out Ok Go -- having seen them less than a month ago, I wasn't in the mood for them and walked away. It was then that I saw my first heat casualty, a girl fainting and starting to convulse from the extreme heat. After I called for a medic, her friends were able to revive her. She got up, stated she was okay and walked off. Dumb girl.

Saul Williams -- I like Saul, but the heat was just sapping any strength I had. My heart wasn't into seeing him more than a couple of songs.

The Ponys -- I heard more than saw them from the stage across the way. Not being familiar with their music, I liked what I heard. Enough that I'm gonna check 'em out when they come through to town soon.

Kasabian -- Great set! I like their sound, I don't care what anyone else thinks. But, goddamn, by the end of their set, I was feeling weak and light-headed. Shade was the prescription I needed to fill! Shit, not even the two bottles of water I was carrying was enough. Drinking hot water only made me wanna puke. The piƱa colada fruit smoothie was definitely needed. Mmmm...

Dinosaur Jr and Drive By Truckers -- sorry to say, I didn't see them perform, but definitely heard them from my nice shady spot of which I had no plans of moving from. Sounded great! I just wish I could've been able to see them under cooler temps.

Arcade Fire -- I finally gathered my strength, replenished my water supply and went to stake my place in front of the AF stage. They attracted a HUUUUGE crowd. Probably the largest I had seen that weekend. Everyone loved 'em, clapping along, the heat and sweat quickly forgotten. A definite highlight of the weekend.

Spoon -- I was off in search of Dave (DMB04) and watched the Texan boys for a bit. I had recently seen them and wasn't in the mood. I truly wanted to see Derrick Carter but was too damn drained from the heat.

Dandy Warhols -- Definitely a highlight when Anton Newcombe came onstage. My friends had already gone back to the hotel room (we wanna eat at Gino's Pizza...yeah, whatever...go, I'm staying!) and were sorry they missed it. It would've been nicer if Anton hadn't been so damn drunk. Speaking of, my friends were sitting in one of the metro buses which was set up as a cooling station when in walked Anton and started spewing shit off about "blowing up the bus, y'know like those terrorists in London". Ooooh, ok, Anton...lay off the booze, bro.

Death Cab for Cutie -- a nice way to end the evening. I sat on the grass, closed my eyes and contemplated on what a wonderful weekend I had.
