Popeye's = fuckin' gross. And what is it with those gross tasting biscuits? They taste like I'm eating raw bread dough. Yuck!

When they first started, they did awesome onion rings- do they still make those?

As far as I know. They use actual onions instead of that onion sawdust crap like you get at BK.

the funny thing is that i think like any restaurant, every fast food place is different. I used to think wendy's spicy chicken was awful until i had it at a good one. Additionally, Popeye's biscuits are among my favorite foods.

and then there's the one in the city on 1st and 13th 1 block away from a friend of mine's flat where i've ordered many a biscuit and red bean & rice.

Their fries are pretty awesome, too. I like dipping them in the honey mustard sauce.

I've got 2 Popeye's within walking distance of my place...1 about 4 blocks to the south, & 1 about 4 blocks to the northeast.

No friggin' wonder I've got a gut.

When I was in college, my roommates played football and Popeye's experimented with an "all you can eat EVERYTHING" close to our house. It used to scare those women to death when we'd walk in there -- my roommates would just grab a TRAY and load up -- not even worry about a plate.

. . .and about 10 years ago, Popeye's won "best red beans and rice" in New Orleans. Of course, Al Copeland could have been out stuffing the ballot boxes between his fights with Anne Rice.

If you ask me, Popeye's is the only place worth a shit to eat some fried chicken.

I still miss Roy Rogers fried chicken, but Popeye's has handily stepped up to the plate.

They're better than El Pollo Loco's corn tortillas, which without exaggeration taste like feet.

Don't tell OPA.

popeye's scares me. probably because KFC scares me too, and all fried chicken. and all of the chicken in the world. this is the year that i started hating chicken, and i hope it ends soon because jesus christ it is so fucking hard to not eat chicken when everyone surrounding you eats it, and its the cheapest meat to buy, and it still smells good even though you know if you taste it you'll want to vomit.
