Holy Christ. I heard the new Franz Ferdinand single on the way to work last night. That could be the single worst song I've ever heard. It would make Duran Duran's "The Reflex" blush.

Oh man that's funny. Is it worse than Jamiroquai?

Do You Want To?

I heard it yesterday...its decent enough for a dancefloor. Just more of the same FF sound really.

it sounds just like 'take me out' but not as catchy and, well, it just sucks.

It's called "Do You Want To", and while it's not the best thing they've done, it's not that bad.

The Knack meets Duran Duran. I dig both, so....

I'm not a hater - I liked the first record okay. I never go back and listen to it but I liked it when it came out. Granted, I got sick to death of "Take Me Out" but I understand that it's a good pop song. This song, on the other hand, has a hook so big you want to puke. If there's such a thing as overly catchy, this song is it.

I really don't have the desire to throw this album in too often, but I will also acknowledge that their album from last year or whenever was solid and their energy that one day in Chicago over on Western Ave. is very hard to fuck with.

I also like Franz but this was bad. I am still going to go see them in concert in October. Sons & Daughters is opening up. That is what sold me on the show.

I also like the first record.
But the new song does suck.
Just heard it yesterday, as well and I'm very disappointed.

PopTodd's quotable soundbite:
Suck city.

i'm tempted to go to their show in oct... strictly because cut copy & tv on the radio are opening.

then i realize i will have to deal with the kroq crowd so i'm a bit hesitant.

From the Coolfer blog :

• Franz Ferdinand is previewing its new single, "Do You Want To," at its MySpace.com page. Guess what? It sounds like Franz Ferdinand -- which means it sounds better than 99% of the wave of soundalike bands that followed its debut album's success. The full album will be on Franz's MySpace page on September 27th. (The album comes out October 4th.) Coolfer is told the band will be on the cover of the next Urb Magazine.
