great idea but too little too late for el beastos.

Does anyone remember this program called ACID? It was a PC remix program that even dummies could manipulate and had a pretty big catalog of beats and sounds - maybe late 90's or so. It wasn't all that amazing but the idea was huge. At the time of Beck's Midnight Vultures, there was a contest where he made all the individual tracks from a couple songs available and invited people to come up with remixes. It was pretty fun to play with.

I can't believe that no one is doing this kind of stuff, especially to inject a stale music industry with some sort of hands-on hipness factor for the ipod digital age kids.
