So many great ones.
What's yours?

I'm gonna have to go with "Whole of the Moon". Anytime that song comes on, I have to stop and listen. One of the BEST songs ever!

It goes back and forth with me between that one and "And a Bang On the Ear". Today it's the latter, but I certainly agree with your sentiment.

I voted for "something Else", though I may not be the best judge since I only have "This Is The Sea" and "Fisherman's Blues", and Fisherman's Blues is one of my favorite albums of the 80's. My vote goes to "Fisherman's Blues", in a close race over "We Will Not Be Lovers"

And I forgot to mention "Sweet Thing" in the Covers thread.

I've got the Best Of at work. I think Waterboys are gonna entertain me today.

Most definitely... Fisherman's Blues,
(If you've ever experienced rough waters for a long period of time this song has that "howl to get you through it" meaning.)

then... When Ye Go Away, A Life of Sundays, Bigger Picture
Whole of the Moon, Sweet Thing, A Man is in Love, Spirit

Don't know which would be my favorite, but I do know that now I"m gonna go pull out Room to Roam, my personal favorite Waterboys that no one else seems to care about. Anyway...thanks for reminding me of a great band I've not listened to in too long.

I thought it was for forever
But it was done within the year
If you see her send my love
And a bang on the ear

How many of us have NOT felt like that at some point?
I'm guessing: none of us.
Brilliant in its direct simplicity.

Glad to know I'm not the ony one. JUst seems like all anyone even wants to talk about is Fisherman's Blues. I like that one and all, but for some reason, Room to Roam just always shines through for me.

I saw The Waterboys opening for U2 at the San Francisco Civic about 20 years ago. There were many impatient yout's standing near the stage chanting for U2 and generally disrupting a fine set by the Boys. Mike Scott had enough of it and between songs leaned over into the face of one of the noisier hecklers and shouted, into the microphone, something to the effect of "Shut yur fat fookin' mouth you stupid fookin' cunt." The entire hall fell silent and the band proceeded into the next number and finished with a big ovation.
