A Look Back at the 2000 Canes
Shortly after Butch Davis took over in Cleveland I vaguely remember a remark he made that pretty much said the 2000 Canes were the most talented college football team ever assembled, and he wagered a guess that a good number of the players on that team would see action in the NFL. So let's take a look back at the 2000 Canes and see what we find. I'll go in numberical order.
#1 - WR Daryl Jones - Played 1 season with the New York Giants in 2002.
#2 - RB Willis McGahee - Currently on the Buffalo Bills.
#4 - RB Najeh Davenport - Currently on the Green Bay Packers.
#5 - WR Andre Johnson - Currently on the Houston Texans.
#6 - WR Santana Moss - Currently on the Washington Redskins.
#8 - CB Mike Rumph - Currently on the San Francisco 49ers.
#11 - QB Ken Dorsey - Currently on the San Francisco 49ers.

Just think they had McGahee, Davenport, Portis and Payton in the same backfield. The 2001 recruiting class also added Sean Taylor, Antrel Rolle, Frank Gore, Kellen Winslow Jr. and Roscoe Parrish.
So unless someone can give me different evidence maybe the 2000 Canes did have the most talent of any college team ever.
