I know there are a lot of artistic types on this board. If you're a BRMC fan, here's your chance to get yourself known worldwide! From their newsletter:

Quote:
DESIGN A BRMC T-SHIRT

I mentioned a few weeks ago we are going to announce a pretty unique competition. Without further ado, here it is... we are giving you the opportunity to design a t-shirt for BRMC. The winning design will be manufactured and actually go on sale at BRMC shows across the land! In addition, you'll meet the band who will present you with a copy of your t-shirt. You'll also receive signed CD's and the usual paraphernalia.

But that's not all: As cool as it is to go backstage to meet rock stars, we'll even pay you for your design!

So what do you need to do to enter this competition? You can start by firing up Photoshop or whip out your notepad and pen and get designing. In the coming weeks there will be a section of the web-site where you can submit your design. We'll have the specifications you'll need soon, but for now, fire out any ideas you have.

Please Note: There will be two "Design-A-Shirt" competitions; one for North America and one for Europe. Oh, and we haven't determined how much you'll receive should your design be chosen by the band and declared the winner.

I think that Calla is doing something very similar.

wow. a contest.
i hate when people do this.
fuck your contest. hire a real designer and pay them real money.
i love brmc but they are hardly young kids practicing in their basement struggling to make it.
cough it up, buds.

Well, being that they were abandoned by one label and left to flounder on their own, paid for the recording and studio time of their latest album...maybe money isn't as good as it used to be.

Still, though, it would be cool to have your own design on a band's shirt. Didn't Sonic Youth do something similar?

consider my hands slapped.
i'm just so tired of people needing design work and refusing to pay for it. everything's a contest or it will be a great piece for your portfolio or whatever.
i'm just cranky and pissed that i'm up late again working for the umpteenth saturday night in a row.

i need to get out. seriously.

and yeah, it would be cool to design a band t-shirt.

Amen to that.

I've done a couple band shirts for some friends of mine, all gratis, but they are friends/former roommates busting their asses to quit their day jobs. I don't mind that, and I enjoy volunteering.

Jesus and Mary Chain lite, or at least they use to be until they went a bit more acoustic.

They are a San Francisco band that moved to Los Angeles. Signed with Virgin Records with complete creative control and got dropped, picked up by RCA in 2005 for third album. Drummer, who was English, couldn’t get back into the US until Bono stepped in. Back in Los Angeles, I think, in fact who can blame them.

On a personal note: My ex is in their video, where I was going to meet her until something came up…

They interested me more as JAMC ripoffs. I can't be bothered to even download their new one.

New album is much better then album number two. I liked their Mary Chain days the best as well.

see: Brando in The Wild One

And Robert Been is the son of Mike Been from The Call, so not exactly Tupac.

That is the kind of information that we (or I) are looking for.

Frosted, you should post more. :P

And considering I was never a big fan of JAMC, so much...
