I've got no problem with Aqualung. It's well-done atmospheric stuff, not brilliant, but well-done.

But the frickin' video positions the dude as another Five For Fighting-Michael Buble soccermommasafetwerp. Keane and Coldplay videos also do this. The visuals add a whitebread, cloying component that isn't anywhere near so prevalent in the audio alone.

While this isn't quite so bad at destroying decent songs as is an Anton Corbin-directed Depeche Mode Video, it still brings on the hate.

"She Hates Me" by Puddle of Mudd made me hate Puddle of Mudd and like the girl that hated Wes Scantlin.

Anyone else think this song blatantly ripped off "Your Mommy's Dead" from Suicidal Tendencies?

It's conceptual hate. Abstract and not meaningful in execution. As in "I hate that this video is all slicky adult contemporary sensitive pretty boy treacly blah when the song deserves better."

But, it goes without saying I loathe nearly every Vans-Warped-Fuse video ever croaked out the tee-vee.

And, many hiphop videos are more clever than the actual songs. Though there's plenty of suck, too.

And what's wrong with the Anton Corbijn vids? Admittedly, he's a better photographyer, but his videos weren't horrid.

The only videos I enjoy are Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" (<-- cool) and Lionel Richie's "Hello" (<-- funny). The rest can go to hell.

I can't really think of any videos I hate but Benny Benassi's Satisfaction is probably the best music video ever.

All his videos are very well DONE, as in they're beautifully photographed, but they amount to this: "Effeminate guys in leather and stupid hair wander around in the desert, drive mopeds, sit in outdoor cafes, watch Flamenco dancers, look elaborately mopey, nothing fucking happens, the end."

The SONGS are better than that.

It's a VIDEO, ferpete's sake, something is supposed to happen? In ~4 minutes? No, it's just eye-candy, window-dressing while you listen to the music.
