Hello people.

Well, i'd like to read some suggestions of songs that would be great on a 'sunny-ish cd mix'...you know the kind of mix to listen to while driving all day under the sun with your girl.

For the moment i'm thinking about some new songs by Sigur Ros, Nada Surf, Deat Cab, Joy Zipper and this Vanderslice boy.

So keep them coming and thanks!

SK

The Delays - Faded Seaside Glamour fits this description nicely.

How about their song: Nearer To Heaven for example.

great pick south, love the delays [where's the new album?]

here's an MP3 of one of my fav tracks to head to the beach to, and my pick for "Summer track of 2005".

The Coral - So Long Ago

I'm going to go for a couple of oldies that always make me smile, and helps the miles click off the odometer faster, as well as a cover that I saw performed live a week or so ago that I've found on the planetary interweb since then... here goes

Nat "King" Cole - When I Grow To Old To Dream
Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass - A Taste Of Honey

Ben Folds & Rufus Wainwright - Careless Whisper (Live) (yup, the Wham! Tune, 'tis ironic and beautiful) (Rufus makes it work if you ask me - must be a gay pride thing, I'll just never understand) (note to self... ask OPA! about Wham!)

anything off the Revenge Of The Nerds soundtrack brings outright laughter, and can keep you awake during those long-haul overnight runs. So can The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack and Monthy Python songs

I've always had a thing for pop and punk, they just seem to scream travelin' time to me... Go Old like the Rasberries and Big Star, to newer like the Posies, Material Issue, Urge Overkill, OK Go, to hell, i dunno Nada Surf, and you'll like the Harmonies as you tan your left arm out the driver-side window. A hidden pop gem for me was always the Sugarplastic's "Bang! The World Is Round," but most people don't own it, or if they do, got it as a promo and never listened to the haunting beauty that was "Soft Jingo"

Ramones, the Clash & Sex Pistols can easily get you from here to there and back again if ya want.

that new Animal Collective song that i think Dalen YSI'd a while back sounds like it'd be apt. It was called See the Words or something.

EDIT: Animal Collective - Did You See The Words

I'm sure some Beulah songs would make for good travel music.

"Brimful Of Asha" - Cornershop (great to sing along to with the windows open)
"Seems So" - Apples In Stereo (just sounds like sunshine)
