I hate the iTunes interface. Is there a way to have it display albums grouped together instead of one long fucking list of single songs?

also
what format / bit rate do you guys like to encode at for your ipod? AAC or MP3? do you generally go over 128?

if you click on the "album" column header it will sort by album.

can i somehow move the album column to the far left? I tried dragging it, but it doesn't seem to work.

Is there a way to simplify the display so it's sill not showing every single song in the song column?

Also, if you click the Browse "eye" icon, you can sort much easier by artist, album, and genre.

I generally rip at 160 at the very least.

I was putting everything in as an AAC file to save on space. Hoewever it's to much of a pain to convert them back to MP3's, and they just don't sound as good.

I rip at 192.

My main complaint is quick finding an artist. I'm aware that I can use the search box but, for example the software that we use for our customers at work lists every customer in alpha order, but if you hit "L" or whatever it will immediately skip down to the "L's"

It would kick ass if Itunes would do that.

That's what I do in my Itunes. I click in the album or artist box and then hit the letter and it automatically skips down to the first entry for that letter. Very helpful for when I want to listen to My Morning Jacket - Z.

Cool. I see now that if you click on album or artist it works. Sweet.
