merck gave $1 mil to the red cross and, as of 9/6, they're matching all employee donations. i figure if you're willing to trust me you can mail me a check or use paypal and i'll give everything in a lump sum that'll be doubled by my company. just a thought. let me know and i'll give you my address or paypal account-email via pm.

yeah. same for mine but i figured it was a timely. . . um. . . time. . . to see what everyone thought about utilizing it here.

as far as vioxx goes, your guess is as good as mine but it sounds reasonable. the fda's already said vioxx may be reintroduced here if they want. the bottom line is that nsaids (ibuprofen, et al) are still the #1 most toxic med docs prescribe as a result of the ulcers and gi bleeding they can cause in some folks--there are fda estimates between 10,000 and 20,000 deaths per year--whatever 1-2% difference there is in cv risk notwithstanding i don't consider vioxx to be "unsafe"

my work gave an immediate 1million dollars, is matching employee gifts up to 10k per, we've given a bunch of servers and cash to red cross to help beef up their technology infrastructure, and are exploring putting in wi-fi/wi-max to affected areas to improve communications

my company sent out an email stating that they were making a contribution but they didn't state how much. i'm hoping that they really are doing so because right now i just don't trust my company.
