Okay, we've got 77 albums left on the list. I'm not really happy with how this turned out, I'm just pursuing it because I figure I've come this far.

Any ideas with how to rank the data are welcome.

How about everyone picks three albums to stay. An album needs at least two votes to remain.

I agree that the results of this aren't going to be spectacular, but what the hell.

You wanted indie essentials, and thats what you got. You could trim this to 10,20,50, etc. and still some great slbums would be left off and some duds would be on the list. I think its pretty representative of classic indie from the last 25 years, and, as such, fulfills its purpose.

Plus the whole one album per artist rule skews things.
The second or third-best records by The Cure, REM, Radiohead etc. are far better than the best offerings from Luna, the Feelies or the dB's (for example).
