oh jesus. I hope he'll be ok.

Let us know if your cat makes it in safely, that's scary as hell to think about.

Depending on how much you [or the wife] dig the cat Radcliffe, it could make for some awesome video. :)

Facking eagles are big. They've got bodies the size of a large cocker spaniel. And they're all over this area. I've got a friend who saw one of them take away his neighbor's cat. He never told the neighbor - figured it'd be more humane to let them think the critter just ran away.

Still no sign of the cat - but the eagles have left.

Brackendale's about an hour up the coast (just south of Whistler). Check out all the goddamn eagles:

Every year they have an eagle count. I think they've had years where they reached 3,000 - and twice the number of "bird enthusiasts." Makes me wish that eagles fed upon bird watchers instead of small mammals.

And I have no proof, but I'm pretty sure these fuckers eat small rodents too:

there are eagles all over town here these days - they almost got wiped out in the 70s 80s due to all the pesticide use, but they are making a comeback- they live along the willamette and out in the suburbs in forested areas. they are real big but I have never seen them kill anything - I do see ospreys circling the willamette and have seen a few dive for fish, right near downtown.

I'd love to see bald eagles flying about.

No eagles around here (I've seen golden eagles in the Highlands but I've yet to see a white tailed sea eagle which are even bigger) but we do have the Glaswegian Urban Seagull. They live in the city, eat the trash and grow into enormous fucking brutes with bills that can rip up a coke can like tissue paper.

There was a great photograph years ago in the Fortean Times of a tabby cat pouncing on an enormous eagle and hanging on to it as the eagle flew off. It must be on the net somewhere.

She just walked in the house, covered in dust and pine needles (which is, like, the same as usual).

A little research tells me the largest eagle species in the world is the Philippine Monkey Eating Eagle.

There you go, fact fans.

I once saw a hawk while I was out delivering mail and I think it had just killed a crow, since there were black feathers all over the fucking place. I was scared I would be next.

I'm always afraid to let my chihuahua out, lest she be swept up by a large bird.

Whenever I'm in the Phillipines, I will not let my monkey loose without proper protection.*
