it's most of a band that was called cap'n jazz (who, by the way did a great cover of "take on me"). i haven't heard anything other than their debut and i like it and still listen to it a lot. members of the band were/are in a bunch of others including american football and joan of arc and one guy from cap'n jazz is in the promise ring. is the promise ring even still together?

ah, memories of when the term emo was associated with sunny day real estate and not blink-182

Promise Ring broke up in '02, I think.

Two of the guys went on to Maritime, though, with the bassist (?) from Dismemberment Plan.

Another might be in and/or producing Pele.

And I'm sure all of them still come around Milwaukee to be gay. Not in any homosexual sense, of course... Just that they aren't cool. (Though neither am I. But, at least, no one's ever called me cool. Plenty of people have been on Promise Ring's jock since forever.)

I disappointed you meant some band. I'm sure real owls are much more interesting than this music group.

For the record my favourite owl is Short-Eared Owl, something of a odd choice since 90% of women go for a Barn Owl and 90% of men go for the European Eagle Owl, but always favoured the slightly obscure. I suppose the Snowy Owl is quite good too but it's no Shorty.

I enjoyed owls live/on record...

did they ever put out a second album under the "owls" name, or did they just decide to be in 100 different bands featuring tyhe same lineup?

they sound pretty similar to my novice ears.

There's also THE Owls, who are a slightly twee group that Crack got me listening to last year, and subsequently embarrassed for listening to. The track "Air" is insanely catchy and is now stuck in my head just throught mention. I'm not even kidding.

and the Screech Owl is where it's at, Darrin. You haven't lived until you're woken up in the middle of the night be what sounds like a banshee being raped by a howler monkey outside your bedroom window.

I live in the country, so I often pee outside to save using water from the well. Too much info?

One night, I got up and went outside to pee. Whiile I was peeing, I looked off to the left, and there was this HUGE fricking owl coming straight at me. Silently. It looked like a B-52 bomber, it was so big. It flew fairly close, then veered off. Awesome.

I also found one in the barn- it was dying, as I found later. I put water near it, as it didn't try to fly away when I got close, so I figured it was in some sort of distress. I came back later, and it had died.

Beautiful animals.
