I don't know, but it seems like a lot (but not all) of the ladies have left or quit posting... kind of a drag.

The ratio of men to women on Obner is indeed one of the few drags. It's funny because despite some of the characters we have, female posters are treated with mucho respecto generally. I've been on quite a few boards where the guys think they're talking to girls at Mardi Gras.

This board/community analyzes itself too much.

We talk about music when there is music to be talked about.

Otherwise, we talk about other shit. Simple enough?

Oh shit. I better re-think and maybe edit my slampiece responses.

You ever check out the ratio of men to women in a CD store? It's usually 100:1 nerdboy sausage fest. The fact of the matter is that music geekdom isn't exactly a popular pursuit for women. If you wanna find a place that flips the ratio maybe check out the Sinful Dessert Forum at Oprah.com.

Although amusingly written, I find this to be slightly inaccurate, at least about the record stores I go to. It's more like only 2:1. In fact, that's the main reason I hang out there. For the chicks.

I came here via CMJ, I think it was poptodd that invited me, and I had never been a part of any message boards before, I--for one-- like coming around here, it keeps me connected to the music I love and introduces me to the cool new stuff. Dalen mentioned there's a bunch of leeches 'round here, and I resemble that remark, I'll admit it, but I just talked to the phone monopoly and I'm 2Xing my dsl after I get back from Seattle so maybe I can contribute more then (started a one-song YSI 41 minites ago and its not done yet). this board is alright with me, with or without jambalaya and high water.
let the muthafuker burn, its the internet, yall
meantime, I have tickets for Clap Your Hands SAy Yeah next week while i'm on vacation, a band I only know about thanks to the Ob bitchez.

how sweet of you to think of me.

since the end of june i've been working freelance, on-site in albany for a design firm. it's been pretty much a full-time, plus position so i've actually been commuting 90 minutes each way, every day and then working 9-10 hours and blah, blah, blah.

i haven't done this for almost 18 years and it is quite the bitch having to haul my ass out of bed before 9am and talk to people and read weird daily group memos from the owner which i heartily ignore. i'm too old for that bullshit.

fortunately i am doing kick ass work on some very major acccounts--a few of them will be hitting billboards and subway stations all over nyc soon.

that and the kids and i just haven't had a lot of time. but i check in quite often. everyone knows i only came here for the girls anyway and now there ain't none. sigh...

and todd...enough with the good ol' days nostalgia stuff...fer chrissakes, you're young--get yer ass out of the house already.
