...and its better than I expected. What's a guy to do, buy the album?

Check out this sweet, acoustic tune:

Paul McCartney - Jenny Wren

I heard a couple of singles on WXRT and they're both pretty damn good.
He's stopped trying to be PAUL MCCARTNEY and just started being Paul McCartney again.

That's a good thing.

Yeah, I think you could make a case for this being his "comeback" album.

Honestly, since right around the Pipes Of Peace album his output has been unlistenable.

I've heard it compared to his "Bowl Of Cherries" solo disc, one of my favorite discs of all time.

What do you guys think?

if this song is an indication of the quality of the album, i have a feeling he's going to be this years, "lets give lots of grammys to the old guy"

I said that the day it came out, no one listened. I think it's a great album, something I'll be listening for a long time. It's his Brainwashed, only he's not dead . . . yet. Something about it screams "finality" to it. It's full of sorrow, even if it's quite pretty sounding. Sounds like a man taking stock of his life because he knows there ain't much left of it.

Only in that he played 95% of the instruments on it. The new one's doesn't have the offhand recorded-in-the-shed feel of that album.

I've got to listen a few more times, but it feels kind of samey, without the every-song-in-a-different-style thing that so many of his other albums have.

I've read a few articles about him & the new album, & there's definitely a "I made a concentrated effort this time to make a really good solid ALBUM, which hasn't always been the case" concept going on.

He looks like he wants to friggin' kill himself in that photo, though.
