A lot of those books have insider information -- do we get to get the insider information, too?

Public Enemy - "...Nation of Millions..." or "Fear of a Black Planet"
Replacements - "Pleased To Meet Me"
Dylan - pick 'em, there's at least 6 that would be great
U2 - "Joshua Tree"
REM - "Automatic For The People"

This glorious 6 sided mess of an album would be far more interesting to write about than London Calling

I'm not so sure I want an entire book on the "How'd the vomit get on the ceiling?" era.

I'd like to read an inside account on the making & selling of TSAR's debut...nobody band meets big rock producer, makes a big glossy pop rock record that meets wild acclaim but sells like, 9 copies.

Exile or Sticky Fingers. So much mythology about Exile and Villa Nellcote as far as Exile goes, and then the whole Muscle Shoals, etc stuff surrounding Sticky Fingers.

others:
Blonde on Blonde (to show Yail how an album like this can or cannot exist)
At Folsom Prison

Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American (always liked the story behind this one)

It's not nearly my favorite record by them, but I think that slight bit of critical objectivity would help to balance out the obvious biases. I think the backstory of how this record came to be and the resultant groundswell of support from the indie rock community (our board included) is well worth telling in a slightly longform medium.

That is, even if you hate them, there's plenty for most people to relate to in their story.
