The Petra Haden version is very interesting and quite an accomplishment.

The Who's original version = qual. Can't believe I haven't heard this until now.

Where should I go from here with the Who?

I didn't really appreciate their musicianship until I heard this. Townshend is a fucking sick guitar player and the songs really stretch their legs on this behemoth.

I don't care what anyone says, Quadrophenia is where it's at for me. If you want a well thought-out story and don't mind some overindulgences on the part of the band, this is for you. Tommy sucks Quad's broad cheeks of awesomeness. I can't make it through Tommy, it just annoys the hell out of me other than a few really excellent parts. Sells Out is probably my favorite, by the way - but put me down for even By Numbers, which is a grower of an album, and, of course, the stupendous, if overplayed, Who's Next (be sure and get the Deluxe Edition of that one it's worth it.) Edited to add: and, duh, Live At Leeds Deluxe.

And then check out Pete's Empty Glass, because it might as well be a Who album. And All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes is quite solid, too, if you don't mind the synth.

Nope, nope, and nope.

Get the remastered "My Generation" with the bonus disc. After that, get the Meaty Beaty comp. Stick with those for a good while.

I knew there was something OK about you, Mot.

I'm a pretty big Who fan, but I fucking love Quadrophenia.

This is what did it for me, Live at Leeds is the fucking best. Played incredibly loud is better.
