Will it be another in a long line of shocking #1 upsets by the home Irish, or will the Trojans run roughshod once more? I'm a big boy...I can handle the truth.

My guess, is that this is going to be a ridiculously high-scoring affair, in which the losing team could very well eclipse 40. And as much as I desperately want my beloved ND to come out on top, I'm thinking this will be another instance of USC rallying from a significant early deficit to win by double-digits.

REALISTIC PREDICTION: USC 49 ND 38 (following a halftime score of ND 24 USC 14)

HOPEFUL PREDICTION: ND 42 USC 40

Those of you with a better grasp of modern college football, please tell me what's really going to happen.

I'm no fan of Notre Dame, but I'll take an Irish win over the Trojans if they will lay down for the Midshipmen.

Oh, and this year's Heisman winner IS playing in this game. If ND wins, Quinn takes home the hardware. If USC wins, either Leinart or Bush will be immortalized by the Downtown Athletic Club.

Don't give me that Vince Young shit. Texas WILL lose to Texas Tech. You heard it here FIRST!

Man, the law of averages virtually demands this happens before much longer. And Navy's actually pretty good this year, as service academies go.

I'd say it depends on the depth of the Notre Dame defense because they have to come to play and play hard for the whole game; USC has shown that it likes to roll up points in the second half so that depth will be key when all hell breaks lose.

If Notre Dame can sling it up there in the first half and get up maybe 24-7, then play ball control, successfully run the ball, and get a big play on special teams in the second half, they might win 41-38.....

Otherwise, take USC and the 11.5, maybe 44-31; (under/over is 69 in this game)

I wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole but it should be a great game.

USC, but it might be closer than 11.5 ....

Still, there's no way the Trojans let this one slip.

37 is a weird total; it means four touchdowns and three FG's or 5 touchdowns and a safety; USC doesnt kick many FG's (they dont have to)

5 tds with no extra points, and 1 td with an extra point

10 field goals and a td with extra point

3 td's all with 2 point conversions, one td with a missed 2 pointer, one field goal, 2 safeties

10 safeties, 2 tds with extra points, field goal

i am bored

I was thinking of, a, a low-scoring ND offense, and, b, a twenty-points difference.

... To expand, maybe a tie at half of fourteen, with SC defense going into lock-down mode and the offense putting up twenty-three (three touches, and a safety... Quinn, that's what we call a sack lunch [/non-obligatory, rather lame Wedding Crashers dialogue]) in the second thirty-minutes.

Not if they're both finalists. Splitting the vote + anti-West-Coast bias will hurt both of them if one doesn't pull far ahead.

and, yes, I'm still bitter about Ki-Jana Carter not winning it in '94.

Likewise, Tim and Chase are just angry about Ki-Jana Carter....

Hey man, I'm not saying I think ND can win it but that doesn't mean they can't either.

There's a reason no team has ever won 3 Nat'l Championships in a row. It's because it's EXTREMELY difficult and you have to be lucky at times too.

Doesn't help that this may be their best team of the 3 though.

I will say that the Bullshit Championship Series has a potential nightmare on it's hands as of today.
