Fried the old PC, so off to Best Buy and their liberal zero percent financing plan.
Get the new tower home, and lo and behold, this bad boy plays PAL encoded DVDs.
Now, you might ask, why does this matter to our ol' pal Billzebub? Well, sit back, and I'll tell ya's.
I've been sitting on two Flying Nun compilation DVD's, that I'm now playing for the first time. Two DVD's, 81 whopping videos from Flying Nun. "Very Short Films" and "Second Season" are the DVD titles, for those intereted, and they're available for not a whole lot of moolah from Smoke in NZ.
There's great older 80's stuff, like The Chills "Pink Frost" and "Love My Leather Jacket", a couple of Bats vids, Jean Paul Sartre Experience, Verlaines, The Clean, Snapper, Straightjacket Fits...as well as kickin' newer stuff from The D4 (sorry splates, I likes 'em and the video for "Exit To The City" is a blast), Superette, and Pan Am. Oh yeah, there's a pretty swell Malkmus video for a cover of The Verlaines "Death And The Maiden" (the Verlaines' original is also included).
Grade AAA.
