List some albums that you enjoy based on the sound of the overall record. You know, innovative production techniques, recording tricks, the atmosphere, etc. Remember, the key here is to focus less on the songwriting and more on the sound. However, I have a feeling that many of us choose our favorite albums based on a combination of the songs and the production.

A record doesn't necessarily have to be bombastic or have ultra complex programming to be considered a sonic masterpiece. You can list a very minimal album but still enjoy the various qualities of its sound.

Its lofi and comparitivly unprofessional production compared to later releases, but it suits so well.

That's my favorite Wu-Tang release. I love the lo-fi sound Rza had back then!

He was probably referring to that Shaggy record.

Great post. For me its any Curve album. Great wall to wall overpowering lush blend of noise like a surreal sonic waterfall. Especially these two:

I love their sound more than their songs.

I def gotta agree with: Curve, MBV, Ride,

...but especially Achtung Baby -- I didn't really like U2, but this album has a dark, warm, dirty consistency that just works as an album.

Some o' my favourites:
