Excerpt from John Buccigross' column on ESPN.com

Quote:
The NHL is once again a young man's game. It is speed and skating, and I wanted to see if for myself. So, I took Ween guitarist Mickey Melchiondo's invitation to sit with him during a Penguins-Flyers game, and his season tickets are five rows from the ice.

As a thank-you to Mickey, I contacted the Flyers' manager of game operations, Michael Wurman, and asked whether he would play the Ween song "It's Gonna Be a Long Night" at some point. Sure enough, during the first intermission, the song came on, and Mickey, as laid-back as he is, was visibly touched.

That is a little strange. Cool, but strange. I never figure some people for hockey fans.

Deaner was an incredibly talented goalie as a kid and went to training camp for the Hershey Bears or something.

Vinnie Paul of Pantera is a hardcore Dallas Stars fan. He's a season ticket holder who I've seen every time I've ever gone to a game. He even wears a team "sweater" (a.k.a. game jersey).

Ween is my favorite band that's still around. I prefer their earlier stuff to their more conventional newer material, but it's all great.

They blew me away on that first tour where they got all Big Rock with their gear. One tour it's little fender combos, next tour it's mesa stacks and Iron Maiden covers.

Awesome.
