You Custard naysayers ! GRRRARG!

It doesn't taste like butter at all.

It's basically ice cream with more cream and some egg thrown in. It's yummy and delicious. The Vanilla is so smooth it needs nothing extra, though at Kopp's they mix it with everything from Macadamia Nuts, to peaches. Culver's does this as well. yum!

The Butter Pecan variety of frozen custard is only for those with the venial fortitude of a super athlete. Otherwise, you could pop over dead after your second mouthful. Yet, if you survive, you are in for a smooth ride of decadence not too far from an evening sliding down the valley of tiny mountains.

Seriously, when I could eat it, in summer it melts so fast you can't help but have a faceful of creamy goodness. It is best served soft serve. We have some other great custard names in the cheese state like:

Kopp's
Gilles'
Leon's
Kipps
Storeheims

We Wisconsinites are a decadent breed, yes we are!

Storeheim's Frozen Custard.

Great name. Sounds like a old Swede got lost in the winter woods and frostbit his rumpan.

Has anyone else ever actually had frozen custard? It's the defacto desert up here, and it's basically frozen Country Crock margarine with vanilla flavoring. It's like those foreign countries where people eat sheep balls or whatever... I honestly cannot understand why people eat it when there's perfectly good alternatives available.

I've had frozen custard. It's so rich, that it would make Ben & Jerry choke.

the wife: "Oh jeezus, it tastes like frozen butter!" (spit)

Some folks from Erie PA just opened a frozen custard shop here, the machine always has this this uhhh tongue of goo coming out of the front of it, is this normal...???

As one who ran the custard-machine at Gilles's on every Thurs, Sat, and Sun from Sept '96 to May '97, I say, emphatically, yes.

... And Orange Dreamsicle Frozen Custard is where it's at, bitches.

Although, you can't go wrong with the brat that's got jalapeno cheese in it.

Cheese curds are indeed good. Fried cheese curds ain't for everyone, but the Senator could make a pound of them disappear in no time.

Custard... oh it's just wrong.

Careful, Paper... there's a hidden asterisk in that sentence.

Culvers will kill you, but if you can choose the way in which you go, this is a pretty good one.

The midwest culinary market offers the same value proposition as New York. In NYC, you get high quality but not a lot. In the mid-west, the quality is average, but they give you a helluva lot of it.
