I'm one of the biggest JV fans on Obner, and I have to say Pixel Revolt is a disappointment. It's not terrible, but I have very high expectations when it comes to V-slice, and the new album failed to live up to them. His voice is the best it's ever been, but the music seems to fall flat more often than not this go-round.

I pretty much feel the same way as FT. The record seemed just a little bland and monotonous, save for maybe 2 tracks.

I disagree with FT. Pixel Revolt is definitely better than Cellar Door, and it just might be my overall favorite of JV's albums---I'll need a little more time to place it. This is by far his best vocal performance, and Dead Slate Pacific may be my favorite song of the year.

It'll definitely be in my top 5-10 albums for '05.

i love JV -- i really wish i loved Pixel Revolt. i keep hoping it will speak to me at a different time (hopefully soon because i was so excited about its release). i hate to use the word disappointment but i am as well.

I definitely prefer Pixel Revolt to Cellar Door, but, as The Dreaded Marco said, not sure about the other two. Time will tell. Cellar Door is my least favourite of the four.
