also, Johann johannson's new album "Dis" is absolutely fantastic! very different than his previous works, the material on "Dis" [a soundtrack] explores everything from electronica to ambient to indie.

Endless Numbered Days is an album I own and really like it but never got around to buying or downloading the other one.

Castaways and Cutouts is just a notch above this year’s also stellar Picaresque album. Such a great band and only could be from the West Coast of the United States.

Fabulous Muscles is my favorite of his, what a freak and his gay sex stories are well interesting. You would think this is more of a novelty act than something serious but is some good indie stuff.

np: Tool - Anima

If that's the case, I'd say:

Iron and Wine - The Creek Drank the Cradle
Decemberists - Castaways and Cutouts

That or the thing with Calexico would be my pick.

The only Xiu Xiu I ever kinda liked was Knife Play.

I'd go with Creek Drank the Cradle as an entry point, and then jam a bicycle spoke into your ear before subjecting yourself to the Decemberists, then set fire to the remainder of your ears before that godawful Xiu Xiu album comes on..

Our Endless Numbered Days was my number one of 2004, but Woman King is goodness all around. So, in short, both.

(give me the gold star for helpfulness now)
