The short story is he and my grandmother divorced while my mom and aunt were teenagers or something. He did a lot of drugs and signed away all his rights to the songs.

So any time 'Born To Be Wild' is played in a kid's movie or 'Magic Carpet Ride' is part of a car commercial, he gets nothing, other than a little pissed. I believe John Kay pretty much has all the ownership these days.

So he lives in Seattle with his new wife, my step-grandmother, who runs a strip club. He works on a golf course, but apparently he was just fired for testing positive for marijuana.

I've only actually met him once when I was nine or ten, but he came up recently and went to dinner with my parents and sisters. He just sent me a t-shirt in the mail with a picutre of him jamming on Ed Sullivan.

He still records his own music and self-releases them but they're not distributed and you can't buy them in stores or anything.

He still has some connections because apparently the Wilson chicks from Heart let him use their studio to record.


And, there's rumors that the Wolf's original lineup will try to put aside all past problems and reunite for a big tour and to try and up their odds of getting into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

I think he played for Dallas, Chicago, St. Louis, and maybe the Saints. 1967-1974ish? Replaced Brian Piccolo in Chicago, if I recall correctly.

Nobody famous in my tree. But i did get to meet Ella live and up close @ the Ed Sullivan BEFORE Letterman. I also got to take a leak in the same urnials as the fab four!
