So the lady(wife's boss), for whom I made the 3 volume U2 chrono comp, just gave my wife and I tickets to the concert tomorrow night. She wasn't taking personal choice ticket requests. But, It's been a looong time since I've seen an arena or any concert, so I think joining the herd will be quite fun.

It's not gonna happen, but I hope they play more back log than new stuff.

No laughing here dude, I'll be there too!

Picking fellow board member Cube up at 1pm, and heading down very early. I have 2 general admission tickets, so we wanna get our drink on, and get in early so we have a better chance of Bono sweating on us. :)

Seafoam, I'll have a brown t-shirt from The Coral on. If we run into eachother, I'll buy you a beer.

rock on, no laughing here. IMO U2 always does a good job at entertaining arenas. All that "dosh" buys some damn good lights/sound.

I bet they'll only play 2 or 3 songs off the new album at most. Nothing to worry about.

Expect to hear "Vertigo," "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own," and "City of Blinding Lights."

D- I have no idea where we are sitting yet, but we'd like to get there early, too. I'll probably wear the cliche'd army green T with the black star w/red border. The beer will be reciprocated.

Thanks guys, y'all are getting me jazzed up for it!

Wow!! That's awesome, Sea. You lucky bastard. :) Have a great time! U2 remain one of my top five all-time favourite bands, so you shan't get any ribbin' from me either.

Main thing I'm tired of about U2 is Bono's interview style of both overpraising the band and of saying they could be better, that's he's retrospectively disappointed in a number of albums.

You can't really be the greatest band in the world AND have made albums you don't like much. That's kind of silly.

I don't like much what they call the "stripping down" of their atmospherics to "get to the essence of the rock song." It's more like "taming down the song to get on Hot AC/CHR," I think.

Let the Eno's, Lanois' and Lillywhite's convince you they know what they're doing, Bono. Because they do.

I guess that's my way of saying newer U2 is solid, but pretty dull.

Anyway, probably still great fun in concert.

You know how bands have taken to playing entire albums from their back catalog? (Rush: 2112, Who: Quadrophenia, Tommy, Jethro Tull: Thick as a Brick)? You know what would be really cool? If U2 played the entirety of Achtung Baby.

That would be cool.

bitterbuffalo and I caught them in an arena in SLC on their last tour, and that show is in my top 5 ever. They can definitely dominate an arena.

I tried to get tickets to the show here in December, but it sold out in 15 minutes.
