I didn't include havin' a rave up because it's a compilation...but I can see where you can make an argument that it should be included anyway. I forgot about James Brown and the Zombies. Sinatra can kiss my ass, quite frankly (no pun intended)

Rubber Soul, though I would like to take a moment to mention The Fugs' First Album came out in 1965, with the opening song "Slum Goddess" which is filthily awesome.

Yeah, as I mentioned above, I intentionally omitted that one and the Pretty Things because the records afterwards (Fugs and SF Sorrow) were superior releases and I plan on including those later on.

You might not want to drive anywhere for awhile.... Or, at least, have someone else start your car.

I'm not familiar enough with all these albums to vote but I'm happy to have some new options to explore over this long weekend.

At the end of the poll, I'm thinking of taking the 37 poll winners and putting em in a thread for you to rank. Good idea?

Seed them like the NCAA and have them battle it out, tournament style. Maybe have a couple of "at large" albums that didnt win but got a ton of votes.

I'd say we'll kill some time hashing that out......

Sounds like an idea for the podcast.

damn, that's a good idea...but 37 is such an odd number, and it's hard to fit into a bracket format. Tell you what...let's rank em first individually, compile the results and then the 32 best will get into the bracket round.

Rank as in 37 pts. for #1 and 1 pt. for #37?

I got those Fugs records. Apart from their brazen offensiveness, there's really not a lot there.

I voted for The Who's first and best. "Legal Matter" and "The Good Is Gone" are their two best songs, period. The phrase "Keith Moon attacks" is grossly understated. The first rock and roll animal, and it comes across in his playing in spades. A truly remarkable achievement on the debut.

The early Pretty Things records are difficult because some of their best stuff of the time were released on sinlges ep's, not lp's--The Animals and Them fall into this bucket as well.

Out Of Our Heads takes Now, crumbles it up, whipes it's ass with it, and then flushes the fucking shit streaked acetates into a landfill.

And that's just cos it has "That's How Strong My Love Is" on it. When you add it "Last Time" and SATISFACTION, well...Spade, I love this little poll thing here, but for fook's sake mang ;)

The answer here is Dylan. Fucking AMAZING album, that is basically lyseric on acetate. Helped through some interesting spots.

And Rubber Soul is the most overrated Beatles album. I rarely listen to, barely like it, and don't really give a fuck if they played the songs, chopped up the tapes, taped em back together, and then re ran the lyrics over it.

MEH.

But I know nothing about music, just what I like to hear. And the musicians around here seem to dig it, so there's gotta be something a civilian like me just can't grasp.

I wasn't complaining, just rememberizing the first time I heard the Fugs. My god. It was so funny because it was the only record in my father's stack that my mother absolutely prohibited me from playing, EVER. I was probably 15 or so when I finally got around to it. That shit still cracks me up.
