It's been a while, but I put on Stop Making Sense and, my god, how I love that band.

If you wonder why I love Shrimp Boat so much... it's because they have the same thing that TH have: a complete disregard for stylistic bounderies, and a complete willingness to be different -- not for it's own sake, but for the sake of creating something wonderful that has never been heard before.

I loves me some Talking Heads and I need to get their catalog on CD, as I do not yet have any (just my old tapes).

I love that most Talking Heads (except Little Creatures and True Stories) never sounds dated. So many great songs.

I think if David Thomas had had the slightest interest in singing in tune, Pere Ubu could have been as big as the Heads. Also a lot of great songs.

I pull out the Stop Making Sense movie every month and just watch it in amazement. I dig them bunches. I don't think there is one song/album of theirs I disregard.

Btw Pop--I have to say that they are some of the best driving music around.

Lately I've been playing The Name of This Band is the Talking Heads a LOT, they sound like they would be such a great live band. A Clean Break is a feaking awesome song.

half of the bands i hear as "next big things" over the past 5 or so years sound so much like Talking Heads - especially Byrne's delivery. hugely influential.

OMG, you haven't even seen it, yet? Go out and rent right away (or purchase)! The definitive rock'n'roll concert movie. Simply the best.
