The Orioles had good hitting last year? Could've fooled me. They were 15th in the majors and 10th in the AL in runs scored.

that's surprising, considering all those sluggers. If you plug a normal Palmeiro year in there I bet they go up to the top 5 AL though

They were plagued by injuries last year. They still have great hitters even if the offensive numbers were indicative of that. Plus Sosa was absolutely horrible and he won't be back.

Ponson is gone too, so some other team will claim our Judge Punching Trophy next year.

It's worth noting that the White Sox (the main focus of this thread, frankly) were 9th in the AL, just ahead of the Orioles.

Best 1-2? Probably not, but 1-2-3 as far as HRs go? Konerko-Thome-Dye? That's three 30+ home run hitters.

Using that analogy (injured/2-yr stats), Glaus-Gonzalez-Clark-Green = 4 25+ home run hitters in AZ. I don't think that's all that great/intimidating of a lineup...

Someone here's just so excited about the ChiSox that they're gonna have to post while wearing a colostomy bag for fear of wetting themselves on the field, Ozzie Guillen style....

Big Papi and Beltran? I haven't heard that rumor...

But Beltran = not as much of a power hitter as everyone gives him credit for. I mean, they're both clutch (no ARod-flation in their numbers), but best 1-2?

I was just looking into Spade's malfunctioning crystal ball.

By that I meant 1 30+ home run hitter and two possible 40+ home run hitters. For the sake of averages lets say 3 35+ home run hitters.

Point is still the same... and, if Konerko/Thome are both healthy, you don't really have a DH spot to give at bats to another another FA, as they're both strictly first basemen...

Good luck getting a decent INF guy when he's only going to get at-bats when Crede's back goes out.

Actually, maybe that's how the Thome deal works out - addition in payroll offset by chiropractor discounts for this can't-be-back-loaded team....

What? No, Thome is the DH. Ozuna is Crede's back-up. He hit .276. We will probably still add another back-up infielder anyways.

You're going to have to help me on this one. First you kiss Ortiz's ass and then you knock the White sox because they've locked up all the DH AB's. At least be consistent.
