The good thing about Van Halen is that, even though none of their singers are dead, almost everybody wishes they were.

that show was horrible?

Edit: that was supposed to be an exclamation point, not a question. ALthough Brook was hot, I was disappointed that she seemed to wear more and more clothes each week.

Yeah, I got addicted to it too. Didn't want to, but I did. I actually avoided the first few weeks.

I'd be curious as to what band they'd pull up next. It would be rather fun to go with the Queen suggestion.

JD was ok, I think he was the right fit style wise and a bit vocally. Marty was blah. And Mig? Holy shit, he was just not even close to being right for them at all. I liked him at first but then he just became to much of a weenie for me.

I think it would have been interesting had they picked Suzie, she was amazing vocalist, but everyone knew they'd never pick a girl to begin with. Which sucks.

Oh, and yesterday in the car, "Pretty Vegas" was on the radio on local station 101.9. I did a "what the fuck" when I came across it.

QUEEN Guitarist Says Band Won't Do Next 'Rock Star' Show

Sep. 27, 2005

Launch Radio Networks reports: Some people are wondering whether QUEEN will be the next band featured on the "Rock Star" TV series, but Brian May says forget about it. On the official BrianMay.com website, the guitarist wrote, "Ha! Apparently they are voting on us being in the next show?!!! Ha! Ha! Can you imagine? I don't think so! For any number of reasons...so don't bother voting for us, folks!! I mean, REALLY!!! (as Fred would have said!)."

QUEEN has toured this year with BAD COMPANY frontman Paul Rodgers on lead vocals. They recently put out a live album called "Return of the Champions", and a DVD is on the way. Two U.S. shows will be played next month, and the group will do a proper North American tour next year.

"Rock Star" producer Mark Burnett, the man behind "Survivor" and "The Apprentice", told The Edmonton Sun that QUEEN and VAN HALEN are among the bands who need a frontman, but he stopped short of announcing either one as doing the show. Burnett also said the show could wind up putting together an all-new group.

INXS used the show to pick J.D. Fortune to be their frontman. Their first single is "Dirty Vegas", which Fortune sang on "Rock Star" a few times, and it will be available on iTunes next Tuesday (October 4). A new album called "Switch" will be released November 29, and a tour will star in January

I echo Diggity's sentiments and could see Eddie Van Halen doing this.

Van Halen To Hunt For New Singer Via Reality Show?

Posted on Monday, October 17 @ 07:05:38 CDT by MusicMan

According to Billy Masters over at Filth2go.com, Van Halen will follow the path INXS tread over the summer and will do their own reality show search for a new frontman beginning mid 2006. Mike Bell over at the Calgary Sun seems to agree, writing in his Sunday column, "The reason being Halen have already used reunions with both David Lee Roth, very briefly, and Sammy Hagar to turn the spotlight on them when things dried up. Now that they've been discarded, the only other choice is bring by that guy from Extreme -- hahahahahaha -- or lower themselves even further by whoring themselves on TV. Faced with the two, which would you choose?"

That is too funny about Van Halen. I used to love those guys.

Well I bought the INXS cd and it is moderately good. Some of the songs are very reminiscient of Michael Hutchince. It's weird to think that they had all the songs written and this dude just came in and sang them, and that this is the best batch of songs they could come up with over 8 years, but I guess it's good enough. As a long time fan of the band, I can't say I am blown away by them, but there are a few standout tracks.

So... I thought that the new singer guy wrote "Pretty Vegas" as part of the competition. Was there a fix in?

oh, I dunno, I didn't read the liner notes, but assumed there was no other way they could have thrown a cd together and had it manufactured and distributed in 2 months. If it takes a month to get a Paper Airplane Pilots cd manufactured, how much longer would it take for an INXS disc be, where they make more discs?

I find it interesting that not only does AMG not list JD Fortune in the "Band Members" at their site, but they don't even have the new CD listed, let alone reviewed.

Usually they are on the major label releases.

Interesting, indeed.
