I came across this and thought it was pretty damn funny:

I admire Bill Maher's ability to make a joke out of everything. Sure, some of them don't work, but if you don't tread new ground, then you only go where others have gone before.

I caught one of his standup shows from HBO (I think). It was a couple of years ago but I remember being really surprised at how funny he was doing standup because I didn't really find him all that amusing on Politically Incorrect.

He's funny, but I can't shake the feeling that he's probably a lecherous old man.

OK, he is. He's gross. But still funny.

As odd as it may sound, I grew up with Politically Incorrect.

He's crossed the line on his HBO show from being funny to just being cantankerous. And Don Imus he is not.

So go back to being funny, dickhead.

His funniness is debatable (I happen to think he's great) but if we're talking Hollywood types that'd be perfect to monger down with at a strip club, everyone else is fighting for second place.

politically incorrect was way better than real time. now he's like conan o'brian with a slightly better funny/not funny ratio. still, he gets good guests, his interview with helen thomas was great.
